Muse are Matthew Bellamy (vocals, guitar, piano), Dominic Howard (drums) and Chris Wolstenholme (bass, vocals, keyboard). The three met in Teignmouth, Devon, after their families had moved there, and formed their first band together at the age of 13, deciding that music was their best ticket out of the boring seaside town! Now in their early twenties, Muse have been snapped up by four respected record labels world-wide; Mushroom (for England, Ireland and Australia), Maverick (for USA and Canada), Na?ve Records (for France) and Motor Music (for Germany, Russia and the Eastern Bloc).
Muse?s two early EP?s, the self-titled ?Muse? EP and the ?Muscle Museum? EP, released on Dangerous Records in 1998, sold out rapidly, and their first major label release, ?Uno?, made a significant dent in the indie chart. Their second single ?Cave? reached number 49 in the UK, and was followed soon after by debut album ?Showbiz?. Soon after ?Muscle Museum? was released as a single, but it was the release of ?Sunburn? which saw their first UK Top 40 chart success, reaching number 22 in February 2000.
More recently, work has began on a new album, ?Origin Of Symmetry?, which is due for release in June 2001 in the UK. The first single from the album, ?Plug In Baby?, was Muse?s greatest success of date, reaching number 11 in March, and it is to be followed up by ?Newborn? before the album is released. ?Bliss? is being touted as the third single to be released from ?Origin Of Symmetry?, but that is yet to be confirmed.
